How far are you willing to go for your iPad?

To quote a cliché, “Hate it or love it, but you can’t ignore it.” Well in case of iPad you can’t refuse it as well. But seriously how far are you willing to go for your iPad?

Ask Kristopher, who did not give up his hope even after nearly 35 days of continuous and tiring negotiations with Sears. It all started when Sears accidently put up the price of an iPad as US$ 69 on their site Sears.com. No one would have thought it to be true and it was obviously a mistake on Sear’s third party vendor. Still a great deal of people including Mr. Kristopher ordered their iPad and got the confirmation slip.

The wait started, but as soon as Sears realized their mistake, they immediately delisted the product. In a way, they were right to exercise their rights as mentioned in their terms or service. The terms of service reads “In the event of a pricing error on the Sears Site, Sears reserves the right to cancel any orders resulting from such pricing errors.”

Sears were apologetic but firm in their response while cancelling the orders. Everyone except one, were more or less expecting this and they did not mind it. Kristopher on the other hand, entered into a long-drawn email communication with Sears.com executives that in the end included CEO of Sears- Bruce Johnson, TechCrunch,Gizmodo, Endgadget, Gawker and other several sites. He was probably thinking that he will get his iPad, like in Dell story in Taiwan.

He kept on communicating over phone and email to Sears’s representatives to get his iPad. It was only when he emailed their CEO Bruce Johnson that the company threatened with legal actions. So what does our hero do!

He drafts an email to Executive Customer Relations- Sears Holding Corporation and in the BCC field he kept Editorial staff of Mashable, TechCrunch, Gizmodo, Engadget, Gawker, BoingBoing, Huffingtonpost, Retail Marketing Blog, RetailEcommerce, Future Lab, and Rick Segel a retail consultant and thought leader.

He then gives each of the people in the BCC field an offer that they can’t refuse (read my sarcastic tone!).

——Some text of the email has been omitted ——

I will trade my 180 page email trail (compiled into a single PDF doc for your convenience), which will make for an interesting story of e-retail bumbleship and face palming incompetence, to the first person in this email distribution who offers in return:

1 (One) iPad2 32GB (my original order)

w/AT&T wifi (for PDF compilation, and handling)

I look forward to your responses.

-Kristopher

——End of email ——

Haha, now that is something! Almost all of the people till the time of writing this post have laughed off the offer by Kristopher, but I do hope that Dear Mr. Kristopher gets hold of his iPad
